This session will explore Isometric training utilizing a fundamental gymnastics strength approach. Isometric exercises have long been utilized as a rehabilitation strategy and we will explore multiple positions to aid in Rehabilitation and Pre-habilitation of commonly injured areas. Promoting a balance of strength within the injured area while limiting inflammation will be the goal of the session using specific protocols.
Isometrics also bring incredible amounts of strength utilizing leverage and contraction. Fundamental Gymnastic positions inherently elicit a maximal contraction of the body in order to achieve the position. Additionally, the leverage can be exploited to increase or decreased the load of our bodyweight.

Participants will be shown progressions towards achieving the Natural Glute Ham Raise, the L- Sit and Hanging L- Sit, the Front Lever along with multiple isometric movements to promote Balance within major articulations of the body.

Ryan Anderson

Ryan Anderson is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist with the National Strength and Conditioning Association with over ten years of experience in the industry. Ryan has continued learning throughout his careers undertaking workshops with Christopher Sommer’s, The USA National l Junior gymnastics Coach, Ido Portal, a movement artist and strength coach and Dr. Andreo Spina founder of Functional Range Conditioning. In 2012 Ryan started a small business called Keep The Balance Training and was awarded the contract to work as the strength and conditioning coach for the Wascana Racing Canoe Club, a canoe and kayak team that competes nationally. For three years, Ryan collaborated with the head coach and world champion kayaker, Gabor Kulscar, analyzing the athlete’s technique on film and developing a strength and conditioning program for both the High Performance and Developmental High Performance team. Ryan promises that better health and wellbeing is not an overnight endeavor. Consistent progress comes with consistent practice and better health comes with focus rather than aversion.
